Jody R. Schum, Organist

Jody joined St. Francis as our organist in August 2026.

Originally from the Binghamton, New York area, Jody began playing the piano at age seven and playing in church at age 10 . He earned his first church position at the age of 15 and has since played for over 1,000 unique worship services. 

After a successful career as a freelance pianist and music director in New York City, he transitioned into local government with a passion for fostering meaningful community engagement and strengthening public trust.

Jody returned to school to earn a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Binghamton University, where he received the Alpha Award, the university's highest student honor. He also earned a Local Government Management Fellowship from the International City/County Management Association.

He currently serves as the Public Information Officer for the Sun 'N’ Lakes Improvement District in Sebring, Florida. 

Whether leading hymns in a chapel or collaborating with Grammy, Tony, Emmy and Oscar winners, Jody believes in using music to bring people together and create community.
